The Mantra starts with praying for stability and then peace then it longs for Contentment. Human life is complete with peace and happiness if the diseases are banished. So, the meaning of Sarve Bhavantu Sukhina also prays for the healing of diseases. It prays that none ever experiences sorrow. Making this wish for self is usual but when one prays for all others it brings a feeling of contentment. In the end, the Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah mantra prays for peace and only peace.
Though the literal meaning of “Sukha” is “happiness”, in this mantra we have used the word for meaning more than just happiness. The feeling of Sukha is obtained when someone has obtained self-actualization. Self-actualization is a state where a human being is capable of practicing productivity all throughout his days. Self-actualization targets utilization of all the energy that resides in the human being. Only on such an exhaustive manner of work can bring the essence of “Karma Yoga”.
It is not about achieving perfection and aiming for the highest position in eternity, rather the individual who has obtained Sukha aims to fulfill all his worldly deliverables through toiling day in and day out, without thinking about the results it may bring later. Through Sukha one is able to attain the highest objective of the soul, “Shanti” or peace.
The Save Bhavantu Sukhina Mantra also focuses on the well being of the larger group, it may be a work or a study group, or mankind at large. The individual includes the eternity in his prayers, in this way his prayers also become eternal.
